In the western part of Tarragona a very special bridge takes pedestrians and cyclists across the busy motorway into the town centre. With both its deck and sides clad with translucent Lay Light planking, the bridge almost seem to be floating above the motorway.

The translucent properties of Lay Light allow passage of light from all sides, and the bridge thereby becomes an integral part of both the motorway and other surroundings. As Lay Light changes character and hue according to how the light falls, the appearance of the bridge varies over the day, and also significantly over the seasons.

The Tarragona bridge straddles a busy motorway, and the fact that the fibreglass material is weatherproof and non-corrosive, and therefore requires no maintenance, is advantageous for both motorists and bridge operators.
