Fibre reinforced polymer is a plastic based composite material consisting of dry glass fibres and polyester. Normally referred to as fibreglass or GRP. In combination this result in a very strong and rigid material, perfect for construction purposes! Fibreglass is a cost-effective alternative to traditional building materials since it combines several advantages, e.g. it has strength as steel but weighs less, is corrosion-resistant, and has a good sustainability profile compared to other materials.
Our composite profiles are produced using the manufacturing process pultrusion and consist of glass fibre threads and mats and a polymer matrix, typically of polyester resin. In our pultrusion process, this results in a corrosion-resistant, strong and light weight GRP material, perfect for load bearing constructions for industrial purposes and building. If your fibreglass profiles are scratched or cut, you do not necessarily need to worry about their lost mechanical properties. In case of minor damage that you would like to repair for aesthetic reasons, you can repair the profiles by first filling them with epoxy filler and then grinding and painting them. The filler should be appropriate for the circumstances and capable of adhering to plastic. Find out more about the repairs here.

Read more about the repair requirements here. In case of major damage, you may need to replace the whole damaged area so that the strength of the construction is not impaired.
In case of major damage where the fibres are clearly exposed, the profile’s properties may be affected. Such damage may simultaneously affect the complete construction. In these cases, we recommend replacing the profile.
