Where can I use the GRP I-profile

There are many different possibilities when building with fibreglass I profiles. Due to the high strength and stiffness of the I-profile the range of applications include girders in beam bridges as well as support beams for flooring and platforms. Due to the low weight and water absorption of the material, the profiles are also used for moveable floors in swimming pools.

Our I-profiles do not rust, rot or corrode – even in demanding environments. The profiles are resistant to the effects of weather, salt water and a whole range of aggressive chemicals. This makes them especially suitable for use offshore, near the coast or in cooling towers.

Primary application areas:

· Chemical industry

· Cooling towers

· Wastewater and chemical plants

· Swimming pools

· Bridges

· Rail industry

· Offshore

· Marine and Coast

Frequently asked questions about I-profiles

Is fibreglass stronger than steel?

Our fibreglass profiles give you the same great strength as steel, but at a quarter of the density. Thus, you can reduce the weight of the end-solution - and that is an obvious advantage, when we take balconies, facades, new bridges or renovation of existing structures into consideration, where there already are specific limits with regard to the carrying capacity of the foundation. See the product comparison for our profiles v. steel and other traditional materials.

What is more durable? Fibreglass or steel?

Fibreglass neither rots nor rusts or weathers. Namely, it has unrivalled durability and long life, even in demanding environments such as swimming pools and constructions in the offshore and industry sectors - while steel corrodes fast in such environments. The chemical durability of our fibreglass profiles depends, among other issues, on the product type on our side, e.g. polyester or vinylester, as well as on the specific chemicals and temperatures the profiles are exposed to. Find out more here.

How long can fibreglass last?

Our fibreglass profiles have a long life span, including when applied in constructions. The profiles have shown excellent performance after being a component of a cooling tower where it has been exposed to high humidity levels for over 20 years. The same applies to our profiles in the case of swimming pools, where they also have been in use for longer than 15 years. Therefore, we willingly offer a 20-year guarantee for the mechanical properties of our profiles, including a guarantee against corrosion. See our guarantee certificate to gain acquaintance with all the details.
